Durham United FC is proud to support Silent Support Weekend 2025, which takes place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March.
This important initiative, led by The FA, aims to create a positive, pressure-free environment for young footballers, allowing them to develop their game without unnecessary distractions from the sidelines.
What is Silent Support Weekend?
Silent Support Weekend encourages players, coaches, and spectators to take a step back and focus on a more positive matchday experience for youth footballers. By reducing verbal distractions from the sidelines, young players are given the opportunity to think independently, communicate with teammates, and make their own decisions on the pitch.
How It Works
During Silent Support Weekend:
• Players continue to communicate and express themselves on the pitch as usual.
• Coaches provide limited support and encouragement, allowing players to develop their own decision-making skills.
• Spectators show their support through applause only, rather than shouting instructions or giving feedback.
Why is Silent Support Weekend Important?
This initiative helps to:
✅ Create a calm and positive atmosphere for young players.
✅ Allow children to focus on their game without pressure.
✅ Encourage critical thinking and decision-making.
✅ Promote respect and sportsmanship.
✅ Support coaches in developing young talent without interruptions.
